Anderson 22 No. 155 Cygnus – For Sale

1979 Anderson 22 “Cygnus”
Yard No.155
B Layout with later-type keel case
4hp Yamaha 2-stroke short-shaft outboard
Mainsail + 3 headsails (Genoa, No.2 and No.3)
Tender 2.4m Zodiac inflatable (slatted floor, wooden transom)
4-wheel, braked Nautilus galvanized road trailer. Unladen weight 400kg, maximum gross weight 2 tonnes. (To the best of my knowledge, this trailer has never been in the sea)
Danforth anchor, chain and warp
(New) fenders
Beaching legs
Single burner portable cooker
Jabsco toilet (new)
Nasa Marine Clipper Duet combined log and depth sounder
Forestay tang modification carried out by previous owner

Lying ashore near St.Malo in Brittany, France. Actually on the trailer at my house. I live close to St.Malo and would be very happy to collect any potential buyers from the ferry port (Brittany Ferries ex-Portsmouth) or Dinard airport (Ryanair ex-Stanstead or East Midlands) or Rennes airport (Flybe Southampton or Exeter.)
I would also be happy to deliver the boat by road to anywhere in the UK at cost (ferry + diesel). This also applies if anyone is interested in buying the boat without the trailer, though a crane/boat hoist would need to be organised.

Cygnus is in reasonably good condition, though would benefit from a bit of tlc. This was always my intention when we bought her four years ago, but much to my annoyance, it became a case of, “that’ll be alright – we’ll do that bit next season”. So we went sailing, instead of doing the tlc thing. That said, she is in much better shape than when we first owned her. In short, she is not quite in boat-show condition, but we have been sailing very happily as is. One of the pictures shows some scratches in the gelcoat on the stbd side which are not through the gelcoat, but are a bit too deep to polish out.

Semi-genuine reason for selling (family pressure has forced the purchase of a bigger boat)

Asking £4,500 or reasonable offer. Also open to offers without the trailer.

Please contact by phone: Mobile is +33 (0)7 87 37 20 53 or landline, +33 (0)2 99 14 62 76.  We also have a UK mobile: 07797 710 859

Anderson 22 Tamarisk for sale

Anderson 22 for saie, no 93, made in 1977. ‘Tamarisk’ – PRICE REDUCED!

Road trailer (double axle), Mariner 5hp 2 stroke outboard (made 2004 in GWO), full set of sails, 30w solar charging system with regulator. Lying on her road trailer Near Halesworth, Suffolk

  • The twin axle, braked road trailer is solid, has four new tyres, suspension units are solid. I’ve only dipped it in the fresh water slip at Oulton Broad.
  • Included in the sale are stands I’ve made for the boat to sit on to gain access to the keel (tried and tested). Your friendly local famer will lift the boat with his Teleporter
  • I’ve rigged a gin pole system so mast can be raised and lowered using the sheet winch.
  • The Mariner 2 stroke 5hp outboard works nicely and runs quietly, flushed with fresh water. These are ideal for this boat due to the light weight.
  • I have installed a flexible 30w solar panel with waterproof solar charge controller.
  • The Leisure battery was new in 2014
  • Cabin lights need reinstalling also the bow anchor light needs replacing. Other lights and instuments work (Tricolour on mast head), a couple of switches in the fuseboard need replaceing, or a more modern unit wired in.
  • The Sails are tan colour. the main is old, but seviceable, pushed us along just fine – I had Jeckells slacken the luff rope. I also had Jeckells install new UV strips in the jib and genoa. The Jib has a nice shape to it and is more resinous than the main, the genoa likewise. The Spinnaker seems unused.
  • The boat has a roller reefing system which works fine.
  • The hull is sound, no signs of any blistering when I had her up on the stands.
  • The hull’s topsides have been painted properly by previous owner and again by me (I think the reason must have been that the original gelcoat is a garish yellow! The deck is unpainted, the gelcoat is good, no soft spots.
  • 3 anchors, fenders etc. Almost full gas bottle. Two hob gas stove.
  • Deck woodwork is all in teak and is in good condition, I sanded and oiled it, but it needs sanding and varnishing.
  • Rudder is made of teak and in good solid condition.
  • There is an auto helm, though I never tried to use this. Depth sounder/log is a clipper duet, the log part doesn’t work, but depth sounder works well. Good quality Sestral compass. Silva S10 radio.
  • I have lined the V berth and some of the heads section with a lightweight matchboard back filled with fixing foam. Looks great, needs some minor finishing touches. This has reduced the heat on board in the summer and increased heat and eliminated any condensation from insulated areas in winter without reducing sleeping area.
  • I rebuilt the area under the tabernacle after it suffered avoidable professional crane damage. I have extensive photos of the repair and firmly believe that is is better than what was in place before. The forestay tang fleet wide repair looks as though it has been done, but cannot guarantee this.

Photos are available of all the things listed and the keel after painting in spring 2014

£3750 ONO. If you would like to view the boat or would like more photographs contact
